REFRACTORY SOLUTIONS: HEARTH AND LOWER SIDE WALLS

The Hearth and Lower Side Walls of an aluminum furnace can be the most troublesome area for various reasons like the mechanical abuse or abrasion from the continual cleaning and charging of the furnace, and the chemical wear of molten aluminum contact just to name a couple. Resco has various products - Precast, Castable, and Brick specifically designed for these areas with multiple installation methods to suit your needs and we will work with you to determine the best solutions to fit the individual furnace and design parameters.  Resco's products are manufactured in the United Kingdom and are designed to meet international requirements.

Quikturn 45 PCA – Subhearth/Backup Material

QUIKTURN 45 PCA is an aluminum-resistant, low cement, 45% alumina castable, that is typically used as a back-up lining where molten aluminum contact is typical. A proven product used in the Subhearth as a safety lining, this aluminum resistant castable adds good strength and insulating qualities along with another layer of protection if the molten aluminum should make its way through the primary lining. This product can be made into Precast Shapes or installed by vibration cast, pumping, or shotcreting methods while also being formulated for rapid dry out without the need for a “Ramp and hold” heatup schedule.

For more detailed information on the Quikturn 45PCA, see the data sheet section or contact us directly to determine if this is the correct product for your application.

Furnacubed 70/85 QT – Primary Material

FURNACUBED™ 70 QT and FURNACUBED™ 85 QT are high alumina, low cement castables that are best used where aluminum resistance and high strengths are key requirements. These products are proven to work in the most extreme wear environments of the aluminum furnace and can stand up to mechanical and chemical abuse. These products also provide excellent thermal shock resistance to 2000ºF and can be made into Precast shapes or installed by vibration casting, pumpcasting, or self-leveling installation techniques. These products have been formulated for rapid dry out and do not need a the typical “Ramp and Hold” heat up schedule.

For more detailed information on the FURNACUBED™ 70 QT and FURNACUBED™ 85 QT, see the data sheet section or contact us directly to determine the correct product for your application.

Furnacubed R-MAX – Primary Material

RESCO has taken the well-known, high-performance R-MAX product line and has formulated a mix specifically for the most difficult areas in the aluminum industry. Furnacubed™ R-MAX is a high performance castable designed to provide excellent non-wetting characteristics in aluminum contact applications along with maximum abrasion resistance and excellent strengths. This material has been proven to give superior performance for the belly band area and below the melt line in secondary melting furnaces. Like most of RESCO’s products for the aluminum industry, the Furnacubed™ R-MAX can be made into Precast shapes or installed via vibration casting, pump casting, and wet shotcrete techniques.
